Kim Seui, the head of the YouTube channel Garosero, appears to have hit a severe run of bad luck.

He was the key accuser in the case against actor Kim Soo Hyun, claiming that the actor had been in a relationship with Kim Sae Ron while she was still a minor, and that Kim Soo Hyun had driven her to her death by pressuring her to repay a debt. To back these allegations, the YouTuber used manipulated photos and videos, distorted facts, and even an AI‑generated voice mimicking Kim Sae Ron.

For 64 episodes featuring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Sae Ron as the main subjects, the channel raked in approximately 1.18 billion won in donations and advertising revenue.

Once the fabrication was proven in court, Kim Seui was arrested and is now being held in pretrial detention.

But Kim Seui’s biggest problem is not Kim Soo Hyun – in fact, it is not even Kim Soo Hyun at all.

For more than five years, he has been locked in a sweeping feud with Eun Hyun Jang, a former investor known as the «God of Business». Eun Hyun Jang ran an investment‑related business and attracted numerous investors. The Garosero channel accused him of stock manipulation, cryptocurrency fraud, ties with North Korea, and connections to political figures. These accusations caused his business to collapse – he lost revenue, had to lay off staff, and even contemplated suicide. Later, all charges against him were found to be groundless, and the court cleared him of any wrongdoing.

But Eun Hyun Jang decided to take revenge, and he chose a strategy that would do credit even to the Count of Monte Cristo in his showdown with Danglars.

Eun Hyun Jang acquired 50% of Garosero’s shares, making him an equal co‑owner with Kim Seui – but crucially, without any liability for the company’s past debts.

He then convened a shareholders’ meeting and set Kim Seui’s salary at zero won.

Next, he froze Kim Seui’s bank accounts (containing about 1.2 billion won) and even placed a seizure on 100 million won that Kim Seui held in his prison account.

At the same time, Eun Hyun Jang was one of the lead complainants who filed a criminal case against Kim Seui specifically for defamation of Kim Soo Hyun. He personally submitted to the prosecution a full breakdown of all the income Kim Seui earned from those videos (by his estimate, at least 4 billion won should be confiscated as criminal proceeds).

As soon as Kim Seui was arrested, Eun Hyun Jang immediately filed a motion to appoint a temporary director for Garosero. Once that director is in place, all videos on the channel are to be removed.

As a result, Kim Seui is now sitting in a solitary cell at Seoul Detention Centre. His first court hearing on the defamation charges is scheduled for 24 July 2026. Eun Hyun Jang has declared that he will not allow Kim Seui to «rest» in prison, and he continues to file new lawsuits (there are already 10 criminal cases for slander and insult). His ultimate goal is to ensure that when Kim Seui is released, he will have no money, no business, and no reputation left.

On 2 August, Eun Hyun Jang released a video in which he informed his audience that the court had indeed frozen Kim Seui’s prison account and that «this means he can no longer buy sausages for his meals in jail». He also noted that he had filed the seizure request on Kim Seui’s birthday.

Lawyers for Kim Seui now claim that he may face personal safety threats from the victims who filed complaints against him – presumably referring to the persistent Eun Hyun Jang. On 25 June, Eun Hyun Jang did not attend a hearing concerning allegations of stalking and intimidation against another YouTuber, citing «terrorist threats».

Detainees in pretrial custody normally live in multi‑occupancy cells, but Kim Seui has been moved to a solitary cell. This is usually done when authorities deem it necessary to ensure an inmate’s safety or maintain order in the facility.

So far, correctional authorities have not disclosed the reason for placing Kim Seui in solitary confinement.

Kim Seui’s first trial on the charges of defaming Kim Soo Hyun is set for 24 July.
