Harper’s Bazaar Korea has released a new pictorial featuring actor Ong Seong Wu, a former member of Wanna One. In the summery images, Ong exudes a relaxed, everyday charm.

In the accompanying interview, Ong Seong Wu spoke about his role as Kang Min Hwan, the cold‑hearted hotel CEO, in the upcoming drama «Spooky in Love».

«I took on this project at a time when I wanted to show a different side of myself after being discharged from the military – I was also performing in the play «Equus» then. I’m curious to see how the audience responds to this strong‑willed character, which is unlike any role I’ve played before.»

The 12‑episode series «Spooky in Love» (Spellbound, My Spooky Romance, 오싹한 연애, Chilling Romance: Find Me, 오싹한 연애: 나를 찾아줘) is set to premiere on tvN on 18 July. The drama stars Park Eun Bin, Yang Se Jong and Ong Seong Wu in lead roles. It is a detective mystery about the heiress of a hotel empire who can see ghosts and a passionate prosecutor, as they investigate crimes involving the powerful elite.

Ong Seong Wu also opened up about his decision to become an actor.

«When I was a schoolboy, I went to see the play «Equus» with my drama club mates. Listening to the lead character’s monologue, I suddenly realised: «Why does this line touch me so deeply? This is what it feels like when your heart clenches». I thought to myself, «Acting is such a cool profession – I want to perform like that». It was the first time I had felt that way. That moment made me truly understand that I could convey emotions and messages through art. That scene is still vividly etched in my memory»

Talking about his daily life these days, Ong Seong Wu added:

«I try to concentrate on the tasks right in front of me and on what I can actually accomplish. Instead of struggling for a future that hasn’t come yet, I remind myself to handle the present well. I’m learning to let go of fears and summon the courage to say, «Let’s give it a try».
