K-Weather, a company that develops a big data processing platform for weather information, has entered the entertainment market by introducing a girl idol group created with artificial intelligence.

On April 15, K-Weather announced the launch of the official YouTube channel for its AI artist "Weather Idol" (날씨의 아이돌): The company also announced the release of the group's first mini-album, "The Prism of Nature."

The mini-album includes five tracks that reflect various weather conditions.

This debut was planned as part of K-Weather's project to develop AI technologies for weather forecasting, with the goal of delivering weather information in a more friendly and emotional format.

Weather Idol is an artificial intelligence driven by data, combining K-Weather's weather forecasts with the latest generative music technologies. It creates songs using various weather variables such as temperature and humidity. The group consists of four members, each symbolizing different weather conditions: Sunny, Rain, Cloudy, and Thunder.

Weather Idol plans to analyze daily weather conditions — including temperature, humidity, and fine dust levels — every morning to create "weather songs" that match the mood of the day, and distribute them via YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and TikTok.

Recently, K-Weather received investment from Vivopower, which invested 6.3 billion won (acquiring a 17% stake in K-Weather), becoming the company's second-largest shareholder.

In Korea, there have been previous cases of fully AI-generated groups, including Eternity, Syndi8, SweeTeez, and ORCHIS. However, no one has debuted using weather forecasting before.
