Kim Jiwoong from ZEROBASEONE has been cast in a leading role in the project tentatively titled «Siren» (사이렌).

JTBC confirmed the casting, adding that the idol is now preparing for production.

JTBC describes «Siren» as a multi-format project that will be released as a feature film also included mid-form (around 10–30 minutes) and short-form content.

A similar multi-format project is «Grim Reaper Life Extension Project» (저승사자 생명연장 프로젝트), currently in production with Lee Min Ki and MONSTA X's Hyungwon. Also worth mentioning is «Wind Up» (와인드업), which features NCT's Jeno and Jaemin alongside Lee Jong Hyuk and Oh Hyun Kyung. That project was originally shot as short-form clips and later reworked into a feature film.

The idea behind such projects is to offer viewers a more immersive experience of the story's world. A film, for example, can anchor the main storyline, while a series or short vertical episodes can delve into supporting characters, provide backstory, or highlight particular moments. This model is becoming a go-to strategy for producers looking to maximise their intellectual property while reaching audiences who consume content on different devices and in different formats. It creates a unified ecosystem in which all the pieces strengthen each other.

The plot of «Siren» follows two police partners: a third-generation chaebol heir who enrols at the police academy, and an excellent cop from a modest family.

Kim Jiwoong takes on the role of the chaebol heir, Do Yoon.

Kim Jiwoong began his acting career in 2021 with the web drama «The Sweet Blood». He has also appeared in short-form dramas like «Convenience Store Junkies» and «Don't Lie, Rahee». In 2023, he had a guest role in the JTBC drama «The Good Bad Mother». After competing on Mnet's survival show «Boys Planet», he debuted as a member of ZEROBASEONE. He recently returned to acting with a cameo in the JTBC drama «Surely Tomorrow».

«Siren» is being produced by Take One Studio, the company behind «Wind Up» and «Whale Star: The Gyeongseong Mermaid» (due for release in 2027). Oh Ki Hwan, whose credits include «The Defects» and «The Art Of Seduction», is attached as director. Casting is expected to wrap up soon, after which filming will get underway.
