Singer IU, who recently parted ways with actor Lee Jong Suk, posted a message for fans on the Berriz platform.

In the post, she announced that she was forced to cancel her September concert in Goyang, a suburb of Seoul, and delay the release of her new album due to a worsening health condition.

The singer suffers from Eustachian tube dysfunction – a disorder of the small canal that connects the middle ear to the nasopharynx. Symptoms include a feeling of fullness in the ear, reduced hearing, tinnitus (ringing or buzzing), as well as pain and discomfort.

«The symptoms of my chronic Eustachian tube dysfunction are getting worse, - the singer said. - I think I have been pushing myself too hard over the past few years without paying attention to my condition. Lately, the symptoms have been persisting day and night, and it has become difficult for me to recover my vocal form while singing.

Experts have advised me to temporarily refrain from concerts that require a wide vocal range and heavy physical exertion. My heart is so heavy. I regret that I seem unable to keep my promise to hold the concert. I am truly sorry. I feel as though I have ruined the second half of the year for all of us.

Since the promotion of my sixth studio album was largely built around concerts and a tour, I will inevitably have to push back the release date somewhat. I will do my utmost to return with the new album and performances as soon as possible, so that the wait does not drag on too long. Please hold on just a little longer».

IU’s agency, EDAM Entertainment, also confirmed the changes to the singer’s 2026 schedule.

The singer assured her fans that she would do everything she could to ensure the concert and the album release happen at least by early 2027.

«I will get better soon and show you a joyful version of myself singing. Please wait a little more».

Before the health announcement, media outlets had been actively discussing details of her impending comeback. In particular, it was confirmed that actor Heo Nam Jun (known for «My Royal Nemesis» and «The Matchmakers») was set to star in the music video for the lead track of the new album. Many netizens even went as far as accusing IU of deliberately choosing such a handsome actor for the video after her split from Lee Jong Suk. It makes you wonder who the critics would have had her choose.
