Cha Eun Woo has lodged an appeal against the decision of the National Tax Service to impose an additional tax assessment of approximately 20 billion won.

His agency, Fantagio, confirmed that the official procedure to challenge the tax authority's ruling is now under way. The appeal constitutes an administrative review seeking to overturn the tax assessment.

Fantagio stated:

«Cha Eun Woo has filed a request for tax review in accordance with the legally prescribed procedure in order to obtain a lawful determination of this matter.

Since the case is currently pending judicial review, we kindly request your understanding that we are unable to comment on specific details.»

As previously reported, in January 2026 the National Tax Service notified Cha Eun Woo of an additional income‑tax assessment exceeding 20 billion won. Allegations were also raised regarding intentional tax evasion through a company registered in his mother’s name.

In April 2026, Cha Eun Woo paid the additional tax assessed. Following adjustments and recalculations, the final amount amounted to 13.9 billion won.

Cha Eun Woo is currently performing military service with a military band. His scheduled discharge date – and return to civilian life – is 27 January 2027.
