Disney+ and Hulu have announced the premiere date for the romantic comedy «Merry Berry Love» (Merry Berry Love, メリーベリーラブ, 메리 베리 러브).

The series stars Ji Chang Wook («Healer», «Empress Ki») and Imada Mio («Tokyo Revengers», «Bad Girl: Glass Ceiling Crushers»).

The premiere will take place on October 7, 2026 on streaming platforms Disney+ and Hulu. The project will also air on Japanese television on Wednesdays.

The project marks the first collaborative production between South Korea's CJ ENM and Japan's Nippon TV.

The story takes place on a picturesque Japanese island, where the fates of two very different people intersect. Ji Chang Wook plays Lee Yu-bin, a talented spatial designer from Korea who achieved success in his homeland but lost everything. He travels to a Japanese island to start his life over.

Imada Mio plays a young farmer who has devoted her life to growing strawberries.

Their first encounter is anything but smooth, yet as the story unfolds, the pair gradually grow closer and learn to trust one another – despite the language barrier that stands between them.

«Strawberries and love have a lot in common – the more you invest, the sweeter the reward», Imada Mio's character says in one of the promotional trailers.

The series is directed by Kim Soo Jung, best known for her work on «Semantic Error», with a screenplay by Lee Jae Yoon, who wrote «Divorce Insurance».

For Ji Chang Wook, the project marks his return to romantic comedy after a three-year hiatus, following «Welcome to Samdalri».
